Vladimir Putin Offers Up to Rs 1.34 Crore Debt Waiver for New Ukraine War Recruits After US Strike Claims Truce Violation
Iran has accused the United States of violating the fragile ceasefire agreement over the past 48 hours, warning.
That it will respond to any further escalation as tensions remain high despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to stabilise the situation.
The Iranian foreign ministry alleged that US forces carried out “gross violations” of the truce in southern Hormozgan province, claiming continued military actions despite the ceasefire framework. “The US terrorist army, continuing its illegal and unjustified actions since the ceasefire… has, in the past 48 hours, committed a gross violation of the ceasefire in the Hormozgan region,” the ministry said in a statement.
Reiterating a hardline stance, Tehran declared that it “will not leave any aggression unanswered and will not retreat one step in defending its territory,” signalling readiness to retaliate if hostilities continue.
The statement comes as diplomatic efforts are still underway, with a senior Iranian delegation holding discussions in Qatar as part of a broader attempt to de-escalate the conflict and revive stalled negotiations.
On Monday, US Central Command said its forces had conducted strikes targeting missile infrastructure in southern Iran and boats it accused of attempting to lay mines in the Gulf region. The operations were described by Washington as defensive in nature.
In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it had shot down a US MQ-9 drone and warned of further retaliation if violations continued. The Guards also alleged that an RQ-4 drone and an F-35 fighter jet had entered Iranian airspace, though details and timing of these incidents were not independently verified.
The latest exchange of accusations has further complicated already fragile negotiations aimed at ending hostilities. While diplomatic channels showed tentative signs of progress over the weekend, the renewed strikes have significantly dampened hopes of an imminent breakthrough.
A ceasefire, in place since April 8 through Pakistani mediation, now appears increasingly unstable as both sides continue to trade allegations and military warnings.
