White House Press Secretary Hits Out at Media for Bias in Trump-Russia Ukraine Reporting

At a White House briefing on Tuesday, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended President Donald Trump’s involvement in the Russia-Ukraine peace talks, while sharply criticizing media coverage of his diplomatic efforts.

Leavitt praised Trump’s recent engagements, calling them “remarkable,” and accused several outlets of deliberately misrepresenting the administration’s work, especially his interactions with Russian President Vladimir Putin. She stressed that Trump’s formal welcome to Putin followed standard diplomatic protocol and would have been extended to any world leader.

Responding to claims that the Alaska meeting with Putin produced no results, Leavitt explained it was intended as a “listening exercise” rather than a session for immediate agreements. She also clarified the administration’s position on Ukraine, emphasizing, “The President has definitively stated US boots will NOT be on the ground in Ukraine, but we can support coordination and provide other security guarantees to our European allies.”

Vice President JD Vance voiced support for Leavitt on social media, praising her for exposing what he called false reporting on the negotiations.

Meanwhile, Trump confirmed that preparations are underway for a possible trilateral summit with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as the administration continues efforts to facilitate direct talks aimed at ending the conflict.
