WPL 2026: Mumbai Indians vs RCB to Kick Off Season; BCCI Releases Full Schedule.
Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru will open the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 on January 9 at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Saturday, 29 November. The tournament’s start and end dates, along with venues, were first revealed by WPL chairman Jayesh George during the league’s mega auction in New Delhi on 27 November.
The season will be played in two legs: the first in Navi Mumbai from January 9 to 17, and the second in Baroda from January 19 to February 5, with the final also scheduled in Baroda. The league stage features 20 matches, followed by the Eliminator on February 3 and the final on February 5.
During the WPL 2026 auction, 277 players were available, including 194 Indian and 83 overseas players. Franchises bought 67 players, of which 23 were overseas, spending a total of ₹40.8 crore to secure talent. Mumbai Indians are the defending champions, having also won the title in 2023, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru claimed the trophy in 2024.
