Yashasvi Jaiswal Dreams of T20 World Cup, Open to Leading India.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, a rising star in India’s Test team, says his ambitions go beyond red-ball cricket. The 23-year-old left-hander dreams of establishing himself in India’s white-ball setup and featuring in tournaments like the T20 World Cup. He is focused on honing his skills and waiting for the right opportunities to make his mark.
Since debuting in Tests against the West Indies in 2023, Jaiswal has been a key part of India’s evolving lineup, filling the gap left by veterans like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin. While he has had brief stints in T20Is and ODIs, he is yet to cement a permanent place in the limited-overs squad. He did, however, score his maiden ODI century against South Africa at Visakhapatnam, helping India seal the series.
Jaiswal also has leadership aspirations. “If I get a chance, I would like to lead India,” he said. With Sanju Samson’s exit from Rajasthan Royals, the IPL franchise presents him an opportunity to showcase his captaincy skills, following the path of stars like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Focused, ambitious, and patient, Jaiswal is steadily building his case to become a mainstay in India’s white-ball setup—and possibly a future captain.
