‘Zero Tolerance to Terrorism’: Jaishankar Condoles Sydney Attack in Israel, Backs Gaza Peace Plan

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday said it was a “pleasure to be back in Israel” as he conveyed India’s condolences over the loss of life in the Sydney terror attack and reiterated New Delhi’s zero-tolerance approach to terrorism.

“We have a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism,” Jaishankar said, underscoring India’s firm stance against terror in all its forms while expressing solidarity with Israel. Jaishankar said his visit would focus on strengthening bilateral ties. “Today we will discuss our strategic partnership,” he said, highlighting the importance India attaches to its relationship with Israel across key sectors.

He also stressed the need to closely assess regional developments, saying security and stability in West Asia would be central to his discussions with Israeli leaders.

Thanking his hosts for the meetings arranged during the visit, Jaishankar reiterated India’s position on the Gaza conflict, stating that New Delhi supports the Gaza peace plan and emphasising the importance of dialogue to restore peace and stability in the region.
