West Bengal SIR hearings: 11,472 voters identified as ineligible, likely to be deleted
Following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, 11,472 voters in West Bengal have been found ineligible and are set for provisional deletion from the final voter list.
According to Election Commission data, a total of 6,578,058 notices have been generated so far. Hearings have been completed for 930,229 voters, with ineligible names updated in the Commission’s records. Prior to these hearings, nearly 5.8 million names had already been removed from the draft electoral rolls. Around 3 million voters remain under the “no mapping” category.
Since 27 December, over 900,000 voters have been called for hearings, resulting in 11,472 being identified as ineligible. Of all generated notices, 3,249,091 have been delivered, while 3,328,967 remain pending. Around 1.41 million cases are still pending, with over 780,000 pending for more than five days.

The SIR process continues, with Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant EROs verifying and updating cases before final publication of the voter list.
