The summer heat is intensifying, with temperatures rising daily. It’s important to stay hydrated during these months as the body can lose water easily, especially during period of intense physical labour.

If you are thirsty and there is no water nearby, certain foods can help quench your thirst temporarily. Although nothing can replace water, these foods can help alleviate water deficiency in your body for a short time.

Hydration Is Essential In Summer
Due to rising temperatures, you tend to feel thirstier. Dr Harsh from Ais Ayurvedic Hospital recommends increasing your water intake in the summer. Some people do not drink 8-10 glasses of water daily, even when water is readily available, which can lead to health issues. If you are thirsty in the heat and cannot find water, you can maintain hydration by consuming specific foods or drinks.

You can drink cold milk, lassi, coconut water, and sugarcane juice.
If these are unavailable, you can also hydrate your body by eating watery foods like cucumber, watermelon, melon, and liquorice. These foods will not only satisfy your thirst but also your hunger.
Additionally, refrain from using cold drinks to quench your thirst. While they may provide temporary relief, they will increase your thirst shortly after and can be detrimental to your health, potentially causing dehydration rather than hydration.
Remember to keep hydrated in summer, and in addition to water, you can even drink fresh fruit juice, buttermilk, and panhe.
