Deepika Padukone Launches ‘Padukone School of Badminton’ on Prakash Padukone’s 70th Birthday; Expands to 75 Centres Across India

Marking her father Prakash Padukone’s 70th birthday, actor Deepika Padukone announced the official launch of the Padukone School of Badminton (PSB) — an initiative aimed at making quality badminton training accessible across India. The announcement came via an emotional Instagram post, where Deepika paid tribute to her father, a former World No. 1 and All England Champion.

“Growing up playing badminton, I’ve seen how deeply it shapes you — physically, mentally, and emotionally,” Deepika wrote. “Through PSB, we want to bring the discipline and joy of badminton to people from all backgrounds, and nurture a generation that’s healthier, more focused, and inspired by sport.”

In a heartfelt note to her father, she added:
“Pappa, those who know you, know your passion. Even at 70, all you do is eat, sleep, and breathe badminton. We’re committed to turning that passion into purpose — Badminton for All.”

PSB’s Rapid Growth and Vision
Within its first year of operations, PSB has established over 75 coaching centres in 18 cities, including Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Jaipur, Nashik, Mysuru, Dehradun, Panipat, Udaipur, Coimbatore, Sangli, and Surat. The initiative now aims to reach 250 centres by 2027, according to an official press release.

The school caters to players of all ages and skill levels. With a team of over 100 certified coaches trained through a structured program and equipped with modern facilities, PSB aims to ensure high-quality coaching and early talent discovery at the grassroots level.

Prakash Padukone: From Champion to Mentor
Joining the initiative as mentor and advisor, Prakash Padukone emphasized the role of sport in holistic development.

“Sport builds character. It instills discipline, resilience, and a mindset that goes beyond the court,” he said. “Through PSB, we aim to provide affordable and consistent coaching, nurture talent from the grassroots, and lay the foundation for India’s badminton future.”

Building a Sporting Nation
More than just a tribute, Deepika Padukone sees PSB as her personal contribution to promoting fitness and sports culture in India. By combining grassroots outreach with elite mentorship, the initiative is set to play a transformative role in shaping India’s sporting landscape.

With its mission of Badminton for All, the Padukone School of Badminton is not only honoring a legacy but also inspiring the next generation of athletes.
