JSCA Hosts Grand Tribute for MS Dhoni’s ICC Hall of Fame Induction.
The Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) on Tuesday, June 10, honoured cricketing legend MS Dhoni with a special felicitation ceremony in Ranchi, following his induction into the prestigious ICC Hall of Fame. Dhoni, widely regarded as one of the finest captains and wicketkeeper-batsmen in the history of the sport, became the 11th Indian to receive this global honour.
A Fitting Celebration in Ranchi
Held at the JSCA International Stadium, the ceremony was attended by top JSCA officials, including President Ajay Nath Shahdeo, Vice President Sanjay Pandey, Secretary Saurabh Tiwari, Treasurer Amitava Ghosh, and other committee members. The event served as a moment of pride for Jharkhand, the home state of Dhoni, whose journey from Ranchi to international stardom has inspired millions.
President Shahdeo personally congratulated the 43-year-old and presented him with a bouquet, later sharing a photograph from their meeting on Instagram.
“Heartiest congratulations to #Mahi @mahi7781 on his #ICCHallOfFame induction! Had the pleasure of meeting him and celebrating this remarkable achievement,” Shahdeo wrote.
Dhoni’s Reaction
In a statement issued by the ICC, Dhoni expressed his appreciation for the recognition:
“It is an honour to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame, which recognises the contributions of cricketers across generations and from all over the world. To have your name remembered alongside such all-time greats is a wonderful feeling. It is something that I will cherish forever.”
An Unparalleled Legacy
MS Dhoni’s career redefined leadership and wicketkeeping in modern cricket. Between 2004 and 2019, he played 350 ODIs, 90 Tests, and 98 T20Is, amassing over 17,000 international runs. As captain, he led India to some of its greatest victories — the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup, the 2011 ICC ODI World Cup, and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy — making him the only skipper to win all three major ICC white-ball tournaments.
His calm demeanour under pressure and innovative tactics earned him a reputation as one of cricket’s most astute leaders.
Continuing the Legacy in IPL
Though retired from international cricket since 2020, Dhoni has continued his association with the sport through the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he captained Chennai Super Kings (CSK) until the 2025 season. Under his leadership, CSK secured five IPL titles, a record he shares with Mumbai Indians’ Rohit Sharma.
As speculation swirls around whether the 2025 season was his last, Dhoni has remained non-committal. During the season, he remarked that he would take time to reflect — perhaps while enjoying his signature motorbike rides in Ranchi — before making any decisions about his IPL future.
A Lasting Impact
From a small-town boy in Ranchi to a global cricketing icon, MS Dhoni’s story is one of discipline, humility, and trailblazing success. His induction into the ICC Hall of Fame stands as a testament to his enduring impact on world cricket and his unmatched contributions to Indian sport.
As cricket lovers celebrate the milestone, Ranchi — and all of India — once again beams with pride for its most celebrated son.
