PM Modi Wishes President Murmu on Her 67th Birthday, Hails Her Life of Service.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended warm birthday greetings to President Droupadi Murmu, praising her inspiring journey and lifelong commitment to public service and the empowerment of marginalised communities.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister wrote:

“Warmest birthday wishes to Rashtrapati Ji. Her life and leadership continue to inspire crores of people across the country. Her unwavering commitment to public service, social justice, and inclusive development is a beacon of hope and strength for everyone. She has always worked to empower the poor and downtrodden. May she be blessed with a long and healthy life in service of the people.”

President Murmu, who turned 67 today, made history in 2022 by becoming the 15th President of India and the country’s first tribal woman to hold the post. Her journey from a remote tribal village in Odisha to the highest constitutional office in India has been widely hailed as a symbol of resilience and representation.

Born on June 20, 1958, in Uparbeda village of Mayurbhanj district, Odisha, Murmu belongs to the Santhal community. Despite early hardships, she pursued her education with determination, earning a Bachelor’s degree from Ramadevi Women’s College in Bhubaneswar—the first woman from her village to do so.

Her early career included a stint as a junior assistant in Odisha’s Irrigation and Power Department, followed by work as an honorary school teacher. She entered public life through grassroots politics and was eventually appointed Governor of Jharkhand in 2015, becoming the first tribal woman to serve as Governor in a tribal-majority state.

Throughout her career, President Murmu has been known for her firm advocacy for tribal rights, constitutional values, and inclusive governance.

As she celebrates another milestone, tributes have poured in from across the political spectrum, recognising her as a symbol of dignity, perseverance, and inclusive progress.
