Sitaare Zameen Par Day 1 Box Office: Aamir Khan’s Film Opens at ₹11.5 Cr, Trails Laal Singh Chaddha.

Aamir Khan’s latest release, Sitaare Zameen Par, made its theatrical debut on June 20, opening to largely positive reviews. The film, billed as the spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par, collected an estimated ₹11.5 crore on Day 1 (India net), according to data from Sacnilk.

While the film marks a strong start for Aamir in 2025, it falls just short of the ₹11.7 crore Day 1 figure posted by his 2022 film Laal Singh Chaddha. Nevertheless, it significantly outpaces Taare Zameen Par, which had opened at just ₹2 crore in 2007.

With this performance, Sitaare Zameen Par secures the 6th spot among the top Hindi openers of 2025.

Decent Start, But Not Record-Breaking
The film posted an overall Hindi occupancy of 21.43% on its opening day, with the highest turnout during night shows. Advance booking figures stood at ₹3.31 crore, with over 115,000 tickets sold across more than 9,500 shows nationwide.

By 9:22 AM on Day 2, the film had collected an estimated ₹0.07 crore across all languages — a slow start for the second day, though weekend footfalls could lift its trajectory.

Tough Competition from Kubera
Meanwhile, Kubera — starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna — is off to a stronger start. By 1 PM on its release day, the film had earned ₹3.58 crore in India, backed by solid advance sales and early show buzz. With a production budget of ₹120 crore, Kubera is positioned as a mass-market competitor in the same weekend window.

Plot Snapshot
Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par tells the story of Gulshan, an arrogant basketball coach (played by Aamir Khan) who undergoes a transformation while training a group of 10 neurodivergent adults as part of court-ordered community service. Genelia Deshmukh plays a key role alongside a talented ensemble cast.

Adapted from the Spanish hit Campeones, the film mixes sports, emotion, and social commentary—marking a return to heart-driven storytelling for Aamir Khan.
