Grief in the Skies and on the Ground: 275 Killed in Air India Crash

The Air India Boeing Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad has officially claimed 275 lives, the Gujarat Health Department announced today.

Among the deceased, 241 were passengers and crew aboard the aircraft, while 34 were people on the ground. This is the first time an official death toll has been released since the crash occurred on June 12 during the flight’s journey to London. Until now, authorities had withheld confirmation, citing the ongoing process of DNA identification to verify the victims.

According to health officials, DNA matching is still underway for several remains, and efforts are continuing to ensure accurate identification before handing over bodies to families.
