Karisma Kapoor Posts First Message After Sunjay Kapur’s Death, Thanks Fans for Support.
Karisma Kapoor has shared her first public message following the death of her former husband, businessman Sunjay Kapur. The actor, who turned 51 this week, posted a note of gratitude on Instagram thanking fans and friends for their support during a difficult time.
“Thank you everyone for ur warm wishes and support,” Karisma wrote on her Instagram Stories on Thursday, adding a red heart and folded hands emoji. This brief but heartfelt message marked her first statement since Sunjay’s sudden passing on June 12.
Karisma had been present at both the funeral in New Delhi and the prayer meet, standing by the Kapur family along with her children Samaira (19) and Kiaan (13).
On Wednesday, Karisma’s sister Kareena Kapoor Khan paid a moving tribute to her on her birthday, acknowledging the emotional strain of recent weeks. “To the strongest and bestest girl in the universe… it’s been a tough year for us,” Kareena wrote on Instagram, along with a cherished photo of the two sisters. “But as they say, tough times don’t last… the toughest sisters do.”
Sunjay Kapur’s Sudden Passing
Sunjay Kapur died of a heart attack on June 12 during a polo match in England. His friend and business associate Suhel Seth shared that the heart attack may have been triggered after he accidentally swallowed a bee during the match. His company, Sona Comstar, confirmed the cause of death as a cardiac event but did not elaborate further.
Sunjay and Karisma married in 2003 and had two children together before separating in 2014. Their divorce was finalised in 2016. Despite their personal differences, Karisma’s presence at the funeral reflected a shared commitment to their family.
