Mohammed Shami Ordered to Pay ₹4 Lakh Monthly Alimony to Estranged Wife Hasin Jahan.

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been directed by the Calcutta High Court to pay ₹4 lakh per month in alimony—₹1.5 lakh to his estranged wife Hasin Jahan and ₹2.5 lakh to their daughter. Jahan’s lawyer, Imtiaz Ahmed, confirmed the development on Wednesday, calling it her “best moment” after years of legal struggle. “She had been running from pillar to post since 2018. The court’s ruling ensures financial security for both mother and child,” he told ANI.

The order was passed by Justice Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee on July 1, who termed the amount “fair and reasonable.” The court also directed Shami to provide additional support to his daughter if required. Hasin Jahan had challenged a 2023 district court order that granted her ₹50,000 and her daughter ₹80,000 in monthly maintenance. She had originally demanded ₹7 lakh for herself and ₹3 lakh for her daughter.

The high court has also asked the trial court to dispose of the interim maintenance application within six months. Jahan’s lawyer added there is a possibility of the final amount being increased, depending on the trial court’s final verdict.

Background
Hasin Jahan, a former model and IPL cheerleader, married Shami in 2014. They welcomed their daughter in 2015. In 2018, Jahan accused Shami of domestic violence, dowry harassment, and financial neglect. She also alleged that he had illicit dealings with a Pakistani woman, prompting the BCCI to put his contract on hold. Shami was later cleared of the match-fixing allegations.
