Wimbledon 2025: Paolini Falls in Shock Defeat, Alcaraz and Raducanu March Into Third Round.

Fourth seed and 2024 finalist Jasmine Paolini suffered a stunning upset at Wimbledon 2025, crashing out in the second round after a three-set defeat to World No. 62 Kamilla Rakhimova. Paolini looked on course for a routine win after taking the first set 6-4, but Rakhimova clawed her way back, eventually winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in a two-hour, 19-minute battle.

The match ended in heartbreak for Paolini, who saved three match points at 0-40 while trailing 4-5 in the final set, but couldn’t fend off a fourth. With her exit, only Aryna Sabalenka remains from the top five seeds in the women’s draw, highlighting the unpredictable nature of this year’s tournament.

Alcaraz Cruises, Raducanu Stuns Vondrousova

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz made light work of Oliver Tarvet in his second-round match, breezing to a 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 victory on Centre Court. The Spaniard, chasing his sixth Grand Slam title, will now face the winner of Felix Auger-Aliassime vs. Jan-Lennard Struff in the third round.

Emma Raducanu delivered one of the most memorable moments of Day 4, taking down 2023 Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Raducanu dominated the match from start to finish and now gears up for a blockbuster clash against World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka, who eased past Marie Bouzkova in her second-round fixture.

Speaking about the upcoming showdown, Raducanu said, “I guess there’s no pressure at all on me in the next round,” hinting at her underdog status in the much-anticipated third-round matchup.

Osaka, Noskova Advance

Naomi Osaka continued her solid form on grass, defeating Katerina Siniakova 6-3, 6-2 to reach Round 3. The four-time Grand Slam champion, who is yet to reach the semifinals at Wimbledon, looked composed and sharp throughout the encounter.

30th seed Linda Noskova also progressed, battling past Germany’s Eva Lys 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. Noskova will now take on Kamilla Rakhimova, who will be high on confidence after eliminating one of the tournament favorites in Paolini.

As early upsets continue to shake the women’s draw and big names shine on the men’s side, Wimbledon 2025 is shaping up to be an electrifying championship.
