Fast bowler Anshul Kamboj has been added to India’s squad for the ongoing Test series against England as cover for the injured Arshdeep Singh.

The fourth Test of the series is scheduled to begin on July 23 at Old Trafford in Manchester. However, ahead of the fixture, India have been dealt a setback with Arshdeep sustaining a cut on his bowling arm while attempting to stop a ball during practice in Beckenham.

According to a PTI report, Kamboj has been drafted in as injury cover. The right-arm seamer was part of the India A squad that recently faced England Lions, where he impressed with five wickets across two unofficial Tests and a half-century in the second match.

Kamboj featured for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025 after being picked up for ₹3.40 crore in the auction. He claimed eight wickets in as many matches at an average of 21.50 and an economy of 8.

The Haryana pacer grabbed headlines earlier this year by becoming just the third bowler in Ranji Trophy history to take all 10 wickets in an innings. He achieved the rare feat with figures of 10/49 in 30.1 overs against Kerala during a 2024–25 season fixture in Rohtak. Only Bengal’s Premangshu Chatterjee (10/20) and Rajasthan’s Pradeep Sunderam (10/78) had achieved similar success before him.

Born on December 6, 2000, in Karna, Haryana, Kamboj is a seam-bowling all-rounder. In his first-class career, he has taken 79 wickets at an average of 22.88, including two five-wicket hauls and a ten-wicket match haul. Across List A and T20 formats, he has picked up 74 wickets.
