‘Saiyaara’ Stuns at Box Office: ₹48.25 Crore in Two Days, Set to Cross ₹50 Cr.
Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara is rewriting box office expectations. With fresh faces Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda leading the charge, the romantic drama has soared to ₹48.25 crore in just two days, emerging as the biggest surprise hit of the year. After a ₹22 crore opening day, the film climbed even higher on Saturday, collecting ₹26.25 crore.
What makes Saiyaara’s success remarkable isn’t just the numbers—but how it’s outpacing films led by established stars. From Shahid Kapoor’s Deva to Rajkummar Rao’s Maalik and Kajol’s Maa, Saiyaara has outperformed them all. Even re-releases of romantic favourites like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani couldn’t match the buzz.
With zero pre-release promotions, the film’s performance is even more impressive. Suri kept the lead pairing under wraps before release—a risk he also took with Aashiqui 2. That risk has paid off again. High occupancy (51.24% on Saturday) and glowing word-of-mouth are fuelling its dream run.
Aneet Padda, known for Big Girls Don’t Cry, is earning praise for her poised performance, while Ahaan Panday is being hailed as a breakout star. Their onscreen chemistry has struck a chord, especially with Gen Z audiences, who are turning out in large numbers.
In contrast, other youth-centric films like Loveyaapa (₹6.8 crore lifetime) and even high-profile releases like Alia Bhatt’s Jigra (₹30 crore in two days) have fallen behind.
Backed by Yash Raj Films, Saiyaara proves that a strong story, heartfelt music, and emotional resonance can still triumph—no gimmicks, no stardom, just pure connection. As the film heads into Sunday, the ₹50 crore milestone is well within reach.
