Chief Justice BR Gavai has assured a review of the Supreme Court’s recent order to remove stray dogs from residential areas in Delhi-NCR amid concerns raised by animal welfare groups.

The court had directed that all stray dogs be shifted to shelters in response to increasing cases of dog bites and rabies. During a hearing, the Chief Justice was informed about a previous ruling that prohibits the relocation and killing of stray dogs, emphasizing the need to follow existing laws and regulations.

“I will look into this,” Chief Justice Gavai said, offering hope to animal lovers who have opposed the relocation order.
