Aryna Sabalenka Defends US Open Title, Beats Anisimova in Straight Sets.

Aryna Sabalenka successfully retained her US Open crown after defeating American Amanda Anisimova 6-3, 7-6 (3) in the final at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Saturday, September 6. The Belarusian needed just one hour and 34 minutes to seal victory and claim her fourth Grand Slam title, adding to her two Australian Open wins.

With this triumph, Sabalenka became the first woman since Serena Williams in 2014 to defend the US Open title. The World No.1 also avenged her Wimbledon semifinal loss to Anisimova earlier this year, rounding off a strong season where she had finished runner-up at both the French Open and Wimbledon.

The opening set saw a nervy start from Sabalenka, who had to save three break points in the very first game. Anisimova, backed by the home crowd, fought hard and even secured multiple breaks, but Sabalenka’s resilience and a decisive third break helped her take the set in 38 minutes.

The second set was more dramatic. Sabalenka broke early to lead 3-1, but Anisimova clawed back, breaking to level the score at 5-5. The contest went into a tie-break, where Sabalenka raced to a 6-1 lead before sealing the match with authority.

For Anisimova, 24, it was another painful Grand Slam final defeat, following her heavy loss to Iga Swiatek at Wimbledon earlier this year. Despite the setback, she moved up to a career-high No.4 in the WTA rankings.

Sabalenka, meanwhile, reinforced her status as the dominant force in women’s tennis, showing grit and composure under pressure to lift the US Open trophy once again.
