Sources: Tejashwi Yadav Set to Fight from Two Constituencies in Bihar

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav is set to contest from two constituencies in the upcoming Bihar Assembly election, sources.

According to the report, Tejashwi will fight from his traditional stronghold, Raghopur, as well as Phulparas in Madhubani district — a seat currently held by Sheela Kumari of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United). In the 2020 election, Congress candidate Kripanath Pathak had finished second in Phulparas, losing by about 11,000 votes.

The Phulparas constituency has remained a JD(U) bastion since 2010. A win for Tejashwi here would not only mark a symbolic breakthrough for the RJD in north Bihar but also deal a significant political setback to the ruling alliance.

Tejashwi Yadav, who leads the RJD’s campaign as the party’s face, first entered electoral politics from Raghopur in 2015 — a seat that has long been synonymous with his family’s political legacy. His father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, and mother, Rabri Devi, both former Chief Ministers, have previously represented Raghopur.

In the 2020 polls, Tejashwi retained Raghopur comfortably, defeating BJP’s Satish Kumar by more than 38,000 votes. His decision to contest from a second seat this time is seen as both a strategic and symbolic move aimed at expanding RJD’s influence beyond its traditional strongholds.
