Karoline Leavitt Snaps at Reporter Over Trump–Putin Summit Question.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt clashed with a reporter on Monday, calling him a “left-wing hack” after replying to his question about the upcoming Trump–Putin summit with the remark, “Your mom did.” HuffPost journalist S.V. Dáte had asked who chose the location for the reported meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Leavitt later posted a screenshot of the conversation on X, accusing Dáte of consistent anti-Trump bias.
“For context, S.V. Dáte is not interested in facts. He floods my phone with Democrat talking points,” Leavitt wrote. “His feed reads like a personal anti-Trump diary. Activists masquerading as reporters do a disservice to journalism.” No date has been finalized for the Trump–Putin summit, which is expected in Budapest in the coming weeks. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said he is willing to participate if invited but expressed concern over Hungary’s close ties with Moscow.
“If I am invited to Budapest… in a format where Trump meets with Putin and then with me, we will agree in some format,” Zelenskyy told reporters.
