Chaos at Shreya Ghoshal Concert in Cuttack as Crowd Surges.
A stampede-like situation broke out on Thursday evening at Shreya Ghoshal’s concert at Baliyatra Ground in Cuttack, Odisha, leaving at least three people fainting. The incident occurred near the stage barricade, where a large crowd had gathered to catch a glimpse of the Bollywood singer. The surge of attendees created disorder, forcing police to use a mild lathi charge to restore control.
The concert coincided with the final day of the nine-day Bali Jatra festival, drawing thousands of visitors. Eyewitnesses said crowd control measures were overwhelmed, as attendees pressed against barricades to get closer to the stage. Several fainted due to exhaustion and lack of air, sparking panic.
Senior police officials, including the Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP), quickly intervened to manage the crowd and ensure safety.
Earlier, Shreya Ghoshal shared her excitement on X (formerly Twitter) ahead of the show:
“On my way to Cuttack for a show today but also excited about what’s coming in two days. Let’s kill some time until soundcheck. AMA?”
She also posted a selfie, capturing her pre-concert enthusiasm.
