Woman Alleges Brutal Assault at Luthras’ Goa Club, Claims She Was Hit With Rod.

A woman visiting Romeo Lane, a beach shack in Goa owned by the Luthra brothers, has accused the club’s staff of assaulting her and her family during a late-night visit on November 1. Vaibhav Chandel, from Mumbai, said she and 12 relatives faced verbal abuse and physical attacks when trying to leave the club around 3 a.m. She described the shack as “suffocating”, with only one entry and exit, and said staff blocked their way, hit family members, and used rods and heavy objects. Her sister was struck on the chest and pushed down stairs, while her brother was attacked with a rod. Chandel herself was reportedly slapped and grabbed.

An FIR names the club manager, Ajay Kavitkar, staff member Junaid Ali, and several security personnel. Though Chandel initially included Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra in the complaint, police removed them, noting they were not present during the incident.

The incident comes shortly after the Birch By Romeo Lane nightclub fire, which killed 25 people. Following the tragedy, the Romeo Lane shack was demolished by order of Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, as it was built illegally on government land. The Luthra brothers, facing culpable homicide charges in the fire, reportedly fled India for Phuket, Thailand.

Chandel highlighted the importance of women’s and tourist safety, warning that such incidents could continue without stricter enforcement.
