Yunus Pays Tribute to Osman Hadi, Vows to Uphold His Ideals.
Bangladesh Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus attended the funeral of radical leader Osman Hadi on Saturday, paying homage and pledging to follow the ideals Hadi stood for.
Addressing thousands of mourners, Yunus said, “Dear Osman Hadi, we have not come here to say goodbye. You live within our hearts. As long as Bangladesh exists, you will remain an inseparable part of this nation.” He praised Hadi’s political style, highlighting his ability to connect with people humbly, communicate without causing distress, and conduct campaigns with dignity. Yunus emphasized that the leadership would honor Hadi’s vision and maintain a strong stance globally.
24-Hour Ultimatum Issued
Abdullah Al Jaber, Hadi’s colleague from Inquilab Mancha, issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the Yunus government, demanding disclosure of measures taken to arrest those responsible for Hadi’s killing.
Protests Over Minority Safety
In Siliguri, the Bangiya Hindu Manch held a torchlight procession and burned an effigy of Yunus, protesting attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh.
Manch president Bikramaditya Mondal accused the government of failing to protect minorities, citing incidents of physical assault, sexual violence, temple desecration, and arson. He alleged Bangladesh is increasingly influenced by Pakistan and China, with extremist elements driving violence, and called on global human rights bodies to intervene immediately.
