Harleen Deol powers UP Warriorz to maiden WPL 2026 win with unbeaten 64

Harleen Deol scripted a stunning comeback in the Women’s Premier League 2026 as she led UP Warriorz to their first win of the season, guiding them to a seven-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Thursday.

The right-hander played a mature and aggressive unbeaten 64 off 39 balls, including 12 fours, controlling the chase from start to finish. Her performance was a perfect response to the criticism after she was retired out against Delhi Capitals earlier in the tournament, where she had scored 47 off 36 balls in a losing cause.

“This win was very special. I wanted to come out and play with intent and contribute to the team’s first victory,” Harleen said after the match, highlighting her importance to UP Warriorz this season.

Sciver-Brunt keeps Mumbai Indians in the game

Mumbai Indians batted first and got off to a strong start with Amanjot Kaur and Gunalan Kamalini adding 43 runs for the opening stand. Amanjot struck seven boundaries in a well-paced 38 off 33 balls before Deepti Sharma dismissed her. Harmanpreet Kaur added a quick 16 off 11 balls, keeping Mumbai’s innings alive.

Nat Sciver-Brunt then anchored the innings with a fluent 65 off 43 balls, including nine fours and a six, supported by Nicola Carey, who remained unbeaten on 32. Their 75-run fourth-wicket partnership helped Mumbai Indians post a competitive total of 161 for five.

Harleen and Litchfield swing momentum

Chasing 162, UP Warriorz got off to a steady start with Meg Lanning and Kiran Navgire adding 42 runs for the first wicket. Despite early setbacks with Navgire and Lanning falling in quick succession, Harleen Deol and Phoebe Litchfield steadied the chase with a 73-run partnership off just 29 balls.

Harleen’s controlled aggression, including three consecutive boundaries, kept the required run rate manageable. Even after Litchfield’s dismissal for 25, Harleen remained unfazed, reaching her half-century off 32 balls.

Chloe Tryon seals the win

Chloe Tryon added a blistering unbeaten 27 off 11 balls to finish the job. Anchored by Harleen’s unbeaten 64, UP Warriorz comfortably chased down 162 with 11 balls to spare, recording their maiden win of WPL 2026.

Harleen Deol’s heroics not only silenced critics but also ended Mumbai Indians’ winning streak, giving the Warriorz a major boost in confidence for the rest of the season.
