Akshara Singh Speaks Out, Supports Jyoti Singh in Alimony Battle With Pawan Singh

Akshara, who was previously in a relationship with Pawan Singh, said that Jyoti’s demand for alimony is legitimate and that women going through divorce should receive fair financial protection. She stressed that alimony is a legal right and not a favour.

“Whenever a woman gets married and builds her life with someone, it becomes a shared responsibility. It is also her right to receive alimony, and she should get it fully,” Akshara said. She added that the amount being demanded should not be judged superficially, as financial compensation cannot always account for emotional hardship and personal sacrifice.

Jyoti Singh has formally sought interim and permanent maintenance as part of the ongoing matrimonial proceedings. In her petition, she has cited income disparity and differences in social and financial standing, arguing that she is legally entitled to support under applicable matrimonial laws.

Court filings referenced in media reports state that Jyoti has claimed she does not have an independent source of income sufficient to maintain a lifestyle comparable to that during her marriage. She has also alleged emotional distress and marital discord, maintaining that the breakdown of the relationship was not of her making.

Her plea includes financial assistance for daily living expenses, legal costs, and long-term financial security. Pawan Singh has contested the claims and sought legal remedies in response. The case has seen multiple hearings, with the court reviewing financial disclosures and submissions from both parties. As the matter remains under judicial consideration, no final order has been passed regarding the quantum of alimony.
