Punjabi actor and model Himanshi Khurana has approached Mohali Police alleging that she received a Rs 10 crore extortion threat from a foreign-based gangster, officials confirmed.
Police said an FIR has been registered at Sohana police station following her complaint about a threatening email sent to her personal email ID. The message reportedly contained a voice note in which the sender demanded Rs 10 crore.
A case has been filed under Sections 308(4) (extortion) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Saurav Jindal said investigators are working to trace the source of the email and analyse the attached voice message. “As per the complaint, the email contained a voice note allegedly sent by a foreign-based gangster demanding Rs 10 crore,” he said, adding that further action will follow as per law.
Khurana is known for her performance in the 2013 Punjabi film Sadda Haq and rose to national prominence after appearing on Bigg Boss Season 13. She has also featured in several popular Punjabi music videos. The complaint comes weeks after Punjabi singer Dilnoor reportedly informed Mohali Police about a threatening call linked to an extortion demand involving singer B Praak.
