Karoline Leavitt’s comment gains traction after gunfire scare at Trump event

Karoline Leavitt is facing viral attention after her pre-event remark about “shots fired” coincided with an actual shooting scare at an event attended by Donald Trump.

Speaking to Fox News ahead of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Leavitt had used the phrase metaphorically to describe the tone of Trump’s speech. “There will be some shots fired tonight,” she said, referring to the sharp, combative style often associated with his public addresses.

However, the remark took on a starkly different meaning when loud bangs interrupted the event, triggering panic among attendees. Trump, who was seated on the dais, was quickly surrounded by agents of the United States Secret Service and escorted away as a precaution.

Authorities later confirmed that a gunman had opened fire near the venue. Trump described the suspect as a likely “lone wolf” and said a security officer was shot but survived due to a bulletproof vest. Footage shared later showed the suspect breaching a barricade before being stopped by security personnel.

Recounting the moment, Trump said he initially mistook the noise for something minor, while the First Lady immediately sensed the seriousness of the situation. Leavitt’s earlier comment, intended as political rhetoric, has since circulated widely online, with many pointing to the striking timing that turned a figure of speech into an unsettling coincidence.
