Delhi High Court Virtual Hearing Disrupted by Porn Clip, Litigant Alleges Hacking

An embarrassing breach disrupted proceedings in the Delhi High Court after obscene content was played during a virtual hearing presided over by Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia.

According to court sources, the explicit video appeared multiple times on screen during the hearing, prompting authorities to immediately suspend the video conferencing session. The incident caused significant disruption and raised fresh concerns over cybersecurity protocols in virtual court proceedings.

Preliminary inputs suggested the content may have been streamed through accounts linked to litigants, following which the High Court administration filed a complaint with the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of the Delhi Police. The specialised cybercrime unit has been tasked with investigating the breach.

During initial questioning, one of the litigants claimed his account had been hacked from the United States and denied any role in the incident. Chief Justice Upadhyaya directed the Registrar General to initiate action after Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma informed the Bench that similar disruptions had occurred in multiple courtrooms.

“Administratively, I have already instructed the Registrar General, because under our rules such content can be displayed only if it is recorded,” the Chief Justice observed. He also underscored that recording of court proceedings is strictly prohibited and warned that action would be taken against those responsible for recording or circulating any such material.
