AAP Holds Protests in Punjab Against Commercial LPG Price Hike, Slams BJP

The Aam Aadmi Party staged statewide protests in Punjab after a sharp hike of nearly ₹1,000 in commercial LPG cylinder prices, alleging the move would hit people and small businesses already reeling under inflation.

Party leaders and workers held demonstrations across several districts, raising slogans and staging sit-ins against the Centre’s decision. The protests were aimed at drawing attention to the rising cost of essential fuels and its impact on daily life.

In a statement on social media, AAP’s Punjab unit criticised the hike, calling it a major burden on the public and accusing the Centre of ignoring the hardships caused by inflation.

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema also criticised the decision, saying the increase would put additional financial strain on the common man. He added that the party would continue to raise such issues and advocate for public relief.

Protests were reported from multiple locations, including Malerkotla, with participation from party leaders and supporters.

Calling it a steep increase, AAP said the price hike could have a ripple effect, driving up costs for eateries and other businesses that rely on commercial LPG.

The development has further escalated the political confrontation between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party, with both sides trading charges over the impact of economic policies on the public.
