The trailer of Arun Matheswaran’s DC, starring filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj in his acting debut alongside Wamiqa Gabbi, was unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday.
The film, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, marks Lokesh’s first full-fledged role as an actor and has already drawn praise from filmmaker Pa Ranjith.
Trailer introduces Devadas and Chandra
The three-minute trailer introduces Lokesh Kanagaraj as Devadas and Wamiqa Gabbi as Chandra. It opens with Chandra’s backstory in Kolkata, where she was allegedly sold into prostitution by her parents years earlier, leaving her with no place to turn.
The focus then shifts to Devadas, who is wanted for the murder of a police officer, while Chandra is revealed to be a doctor. As their worlds collide, Devadas is shown leading a gang while both come under intense police pursuit. The trailer builds through sequences of violence, bomb blasts, and gunfire, before ending on a quiet visual of the couple standing on a hilltop at sunset.
Pa Ranjith praises visuals and performances
Filmmaker Pa Ranjith shared the trailer on X (formerly Twitter), praising its technical craft and overall impact.
