Earthquake in Afghanistan Triggers Tremors in Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir

A strong earthquake struck Afghanistan on Saturday evening, sending tremors across Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, and several other parts of north India.

The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said the earthquake measured 6.2 on the Richter scale. The quake’s epicentre was located in Afghanistan at a depth of 215 km, according to the agency.

In a post on X, the NCS said: “EQ of M: 6.2, On: 27/06/2026 19:04:51 IST, Lat: 36.442 N, Long: 70.672 E, Depth: 215 Km, Location: Afghanistan.”

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage from the tremors, which were felt across several northern states, including the national capital and Jammu and Kashmir.
