‘Jana Nayagan’ to Get Six Deleted Scenes Next Week, H. Vinoth Shares Exciting Update

Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, his final film before entering politics full-time, could soon get an extended theatrical version. Director H. Vinoth has revealed that six deleted scenes are likely to be added to the film from next week, offering audiences fresh content after its successful theatrical run.

The political action drama was released worldwide on July 23, 2026, after being postponed from its original January 9 release due to certification delays.

H. Vinoth Reveals Plans to Restore Deleted Scenes

Addressing fans at the film’s success meet in Chennai on Monday, H. Vinoth disclosed that six scenes were removed during the final edit but may now return to theatres.

“There are six scenes that we had deleted. There are two fun (comedy) scenes featuring sir (Vijay), two action scenes and two other emotional scenes,” the filmmaker said.

When asked when audiences could expect the updated version, Vinoth said the final decision rests with the producers. However, he indicated that the additional scenes could be incorporated into the film from next week.

“We will think about adding them from next week or so,” he said.

About the Film

Directed by H. Vinoth and backed by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan stars Vijay, Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde and Mamitha Baiju in lead roles. The ensemble cast also includes Prakash Raj, Nassar, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Narain and Priyamani.

The film is the official Tamil remake of the 2023 Telugu blockbuster Bhagavanth Kesari. It follows a retired IPS officer who takes responsibility for the daughter of a close friend after his death. As he helps her overcome childhood trauma and prepares her to join the Indian Army, he finds himself taking on influential forces that threaten the country’s democratic values.
