Kangana Ranaut Hits Back at Taapsee Pannu Over Past Feud, Says ‘Sasti Copy’ Remark Crossed All Limits
Taapsee Pannu has opened up about her long-running public differences with Kangana Ranaut, saying the two actresses have never actually met, either before or after their much-discussed feud.
In an interview with India Today, Taapsee was asked whether she and Kangana had resolved their differences. She said she had never met Kangana and suggested that their contrasting views reflected their respective upbringings and perspectives.

Taapsee added that Kangana stands by her own opinions and said people could decide for themselves where the two actresses were coming from.
Her comments soon drew a sharp response from Kangana.
Reacting on Instagram Stories, Kangana accused Taapsee of ridiculing her upbringing and parents. She also revived the “sasti copy” jibe that has been associated with their feud for years.
Kangana claimed that Taapsee had crossed a line by bringing up her upbringing and parents into the discussion. She further questioned why Taapsee had not developed an identity she considered original, ending her post with a sarcastic remark about her efforts.
How The ‘Sasti Copy’ Feud Began
The rivalry between the two actresses dates back to 2019, when Kangana’s sister Rangoli Chandel accused Taapsee of copying Kangana and labelled her a “sasti copy”.
The controversy erupted after Taapsee praised the trailer of Judgementall Hai Kya without specifically mentioning Kangana. The comments triggered a series of public exchanges.
Taapsee subsequently indicated that she had no interest in getting involved in a mudslinging contest and maintained that she did not have a personal fight with Kangana.
The dispute resurfaced in 2020 during the intense Bollywood debate over nepotism and opportunities for outsiders. Kangana referred to Taapsee and Swara Bhasker as “B-grade actresses” and “needy outsiders”.
Taapsee responded by arguing that outsiders should not be pitted against one another and that the larger conversation should focus on improving the system within the film industry.
Years later, the two actresses have still not met, according to Taapsee, but their old public feud has once again made headlines.
Taapsee On Politics
During the same interview, Taapsee also addressed speculation about whether she could enter politics in the future.
She said she was not considering a political career and wanted to continue acting, adding that she hoped to do more films. While she follows political issues and voices her opinions, she said she does so as an educated citizen rather than from a political standpoint.
On the professional front, Taapsee is gearing up for Gandhari, a revenge drama that is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on September 3.
