Women’s Asia Cup Heroics Put Shree Charani on Track for Historic T20I Rankings Milestone

Shree Charani is just two points away from rewriting the record books in the ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings after a sensational Women’s Asia Cup campaign.

The India left-arm spinner has risen to 804 rating points, putting her within touching distance of Australia’s Megan Schutt, who holds the record for the highest rating ever achieved by a bowler in the women’s T20I rankings. Schutt reached 806 points in November 2018.

Charani has already become the first Indian to cross the 800-point mark in the women’s T20I rankings. Her current rating is also the highest ever recorded by an Indian player in the rankings, surpassing a mark that had stood for more than a decade.

Charani Surpasses Mithali Raj’s Record

Former India captain Mithali Raj previously held the Indian record, having accumulated 780 rating points in 2011.

That mark remained the highest rating achieved by an Indian in the women’s T20I rankings for 15 years. Charani’s 804 points have now taken the national record into a new range.

She is also among only a handful of bowlers to have crossed 800 points. England’s Sophie Ecclestone reached 802, while Schutt’s 806 remains the highest mark.

12 Wickets in India’s Asia Cup Triumph

Charani was one of India’s standout performers during the Women’s Asia Cup, claiming 12 wickets during the tournament.

She produced her biggest impact in the final against Sri Lanka, returning impressive figures of 4/20 as India secured the title.

Her performances throughout the competition helped push her rating to 804 and further cemented her position at the top end of the international rankings.

Can Charani Set a New World Record?

Charani first reached the No. 1 position in the T20I bowling rankings earlier in 2026. She has continued to build on that breakthrough with consistent performances on the international stage.

Now, with just two points needed to equal Schutt’s record, Charani has the opportunity to become the highest-rated bowler in the history of the ICC Women’s T20I rankings.

The upcoming Asian Games could provide her with another opportunity to add to her rating and potentially take the record beyond Schutt’s 806-point benchmark.
