India vs Brazil Clash: AIFF Offers Kolkata Clubs 14,000 Discounted Tickets

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has rolled out more than 14,000 discounted tickets for members and supporters of Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting ahead of India’s much-awaited international friendly against Brazil.

The initiative is aimed at ensuring Kolkata’s vibrant football community gets an opportunity to be part of one of the most high-profile matches to be staged in Indian football in recent years. India will first take on Panama in Bengaluru on September 25 before heading to Kolkata for two major fixtures. The Blue Tigers are scheduled to face Brazil on October 3 and Uruguay on October 6.

AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey explained the ticket distribution process while speaking to the media in Kolkata on Thursday. He said supporters of the city’s three major clubs can approach their respective club premises to purchase tickets at discounted prices.

The clubs will submit their ticket requirements to the Indian Football Association (IFA), which will oversee the allocation. Dedicated spaces will be arranged at the club premises where members and fans can collect or purchase their tickets.

The discounted seats have been reserved in the B2 and D2 sections of the middle tier, situated behind the two goals. Clubs affiliated with the IFA will also have access to the scheme.

Demand for the Brazil match has been particularly strong, with tickets released through the general sale selling out rapidly. Public ticket prices have ranged between Rs 999 and Rs 15,000.

AIFF TO TAKE MATCHDAY EXPERIENCE BEYOND KOLKATA

The federation is also working on plans to establish fan parks across various districts. The proposed initiative is intended to connect supporters outside Kolkata with the national team’s high-profile fixtures.

According to Chaubey, fan parks could allow young academy players and football fans to watch the matches together on large screens, while simultaneously supporting the AIFF’s grassroots development efforts.

Preparations for Brazil’s visit are also progressing. A five-member delegation from the Brazilian Football Confederation has inspected the stadium and reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming fixture. The delegation reportedly gave a positive assessment of the preparations.

SALT LAKE STADIUM PITCH BEING PREPARED

The condition of the Salt Lake Stadium pitch had attracted attention after the Durand Cup and the monsoon. However, Chaubey said the playing surface has improved and is expected to be ready for the Brazil fixture on October 3.

The training facilities located next to the stadium are also being prepared for the visiting teams.

The three upcoming FIFA Tier-1 friendlies against Panama, Brazil and Uruguay will give India the opportunity to compete against highly ranked international sides.

Brazil have never played a senior men’s international in India, while Uruguay last faced India in Kolkata in 1982.

For Khalid Jamil’s side, the fixtures will provide an important opportunity to compete against top-level opposition. For Kolkata’s football-loving supporters, meanwhile, the matches promise a rare chance to watch Brazil and Uruguay in action on Indian soil.
