Minor Sexually Assaulted, Video Uploaded Online; 3 Arrested in Bihar’s Khagaria

Three men have been arrested in Bihar’s Khagaria for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl and later circulating a video linked to the incident on social media.

The case came to light after the girl’s mother approached the Khagaria Women’s Police Station and filed a complaint against the accused. She alleged that her daughter was sexually exploited in the Bahadurpur police station area.

According to the complaint, the girl resisted the alleged abuse, following which one of the accused purportedly recorded a video and shared it on social media. The footage was reportedly posted on Instagram along with details that could identify the minor, leading to distress and embarrassment for her family.

Police registered a case against the three accused and sent the girl for a medical examination as part of the investigation. Sadar SDPO-1 Ramesh Kumar confirmed the registration of the case.

During questioning, police reportedly noticed differences between the statements given by the girl and her mother. Investigators are therefore recording the girl’s statement again to establish the sequence of events and determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and subsequent circulation of the video.

Police are also verifying claims that the girl had been in a relationship with one of the accused for several months. Officials said this aspect is being examined alongside the allegations of sexual exploitation and the recording and dissemination of the video.

Ramesh Kumar said the investigation covers both the allegations of sexual exploitation and the online circulation of the video. He added that appropriate legal action would be taken against anyone found responsible.

The investigation is ongoing, with further action expected after the girl’s statement is recorded again and other evidence is examined.
