Delhi Minor Rape Case: Girl Allegedly Assaulted at Wazirabad Hotel After Social Media Friendship
A minor girl was allegedly raped at a hotel in Delhi’s Wazirabad area by a man she had met through social media, police said. The incident was reported days after the alleged gangrape of a 17-year-old girl at Aastha Kunj Park near Kalkaji Mandir.
According to police, the girl and the accused are residents of the Wazirabad area and had connected through social media. Police said the accused allegedly took the minor to a hotel on the pretext of their friendship, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
A case has been registered at Wazirabad police station under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and other applicable laws.
Minor Informs Family After Returning Home
Police said the girl returned home after the alleged incident and told her family about what had happened.
Her family subsequently approached the police. The girl was medically examined and her statement was recorded as part of the investigation.
Based on her statement and the medical examination, police registered a case against the accused. He has allegedly been absconding since the incident.
Police teams are carrying out raids at suspected locations to trace and arrest him.
Investigators are also looking into how the minor was permitted to enter the hotel. The hotel’s entry register, CCTV recordings and other relevant documents are being examined, police said.
Aastha Kunj Park Gangrape Case
The case comes shortly after the alleged gangrape of a 17-year-old girl at Aastha Kunj Park near Kalkaji Mandir.
Police said the teenager had gone to the park on Monday evening with a 17-year-old male friend. Three men—Asif, Hemant and his brother Manish—allegedly posed as police officers and took the girl to a secluded part of the park, where she was allegedly raped.
Asif was later arrested after an encounter with police in southeast Delhi.
According to police, officers attempted to intercept him near DM Office Road in Amar Colony, following which he allegedly fired three rounds at the police team.
One bullet hit the bullet-proof jacket of head constable Rajesh. Police said the officer then fired two rounds in self-defence, one of which struck Asif in the right leg.
Further investigation into the Wazirabad case, including the circumstances surrounding the hotel visit and the whereabouts of the accused, is underway.
