Udta Teer Box Office Collection Day 2: Ayushmann Khurrana-Sara Ali Khan Starrer Mints ₹7 Crore
Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s latest release, Udta Teer, has gained momentum at the box office on its second day. The spy comedy, which hit theatres on Friday, recorded a noticeable jump in collections on Saturday despite receiving mixed reviews from critics.
According to Sacnilk, the film earned ₹7 crore on Day 2, taking its total domestic box office collection to ₹11.10 crore. The movie had opened with ₹4.10 crore on Friday, making Saturday’s performance a significant improvement over its opening-day figures.
The film is also facing competition from other recent releases, including Yami Gautam’s Nayyi Navelli and Rajkummar Rao’s Prahaar, both of which continue to attract audiences in theatres.
With its second-day earnings showing an upward trend, Udta Teer will now look to build on the momentum on Sunday. Its performance on the final day of the opening weekend will be important in determining whether the film can sustain its growth at the box office.
HUMOUR AND COMEDY SEQUENCES FACE CRITICISM
Despite the improvement in collections, Udta Teer has received mixed reactions from critics, particularly over its execution of comedy. Several sequences have been criticised for relying on exaggerated situations and forced humour rather than delivering consistent laughs.
One hospital sequence features Vikrant using the immobile Burman and his stretcher as a shield and weapon while fighting Pakistani agents. The scene also includes a dead body and an awkwardly staged interaction, creating a comic setup that reportedly fails to deliver the desired impact.
Another sequence follows Vikrant and Dhruv chasing Maqsood through the narrow lanes of Old Delhi. However, the heavy dialogue and exaggerated physical comedy reportedly make the scene feel unnecessarily drawn out.
In another attempt at slapstick humour, Burman is strapped vertically to a stretcher while Dhruv uses a remote control to make him dance. The sequence adds to the film’s over-the-top comic approach, which has not fully connected with critics.
SUNDAY COLLECTIONS IN FOCUS
With ₹11.10 crore already collected in India over its first two days, Udta Teer will hope to register another strong performance on Sunday. The film’s ability to attract more moviegoers over the weekend could help it offset the impact of mixed reviews and competition from other releases.
The coming box office figures will offer a clearer picture of the film’s theatrical prospects in its first week.
