Vote counting is underway for six by-elections across West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Assam, with results expected to determine the next representatives for five Assembly constituencies and one Lok Sabha seat. The contests followed intense election campaigns and recorded voter turnout of more than 76% across all six seats.

The bypolls have attracted political attention because of changes in party affiliations, prominent candidates and competition among major regional and national parties. The results will decide the immediate electoral outcome in each constituency.

Rejinagar witnessed a multi-party contest involving the BJP, TMC, Congress, CPI(M) and Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP). Nandigram recorded 80.89% voter turnout, while Rejinagar registered 80%.
