Djokovic Overcomes Norrie to Reach US Open Fourth Round.
Novak Djokovic battled past Britain’s Cameron Norrie 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-3 on Friday to advance to the fourth round of the U.S. Open, keeping alive his bid for a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title.
The 38-year-old Serb, troubled briefly by a back issue, took the opening set before Norrie levelled through a tiebreak. Djokovic responded with trademark intensity, regaining control in the third and cruising through the fourth to set up a meeting with Jan-Lennard Struff.
Sabalenka Gains Revenge on Fernandez
World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka defeated Canada’s Leylah Fernandez 6-3, 7-6(2) to avenge her 2021 semi-final loss at Flushing Meadows. After surviving early pressure, Sabalenka powered through the first set and edged the second in a tiebreak, extending her perfect third-round record at the U.S. Open to 6-0.
Krejcikova Stuns Navarro in Comeback
Barbora Krejcikova fought back from a set down to upset American Emma Navarro 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Navarro led 3-0 in the final set, but the Czech reeled off five games in a row before closing out the match to reach the last 16.
