Drishyam 3 Hindi vs Malayalam: Will Ajay Devgn’s Vijay Salgaonkar Mirror Mohanlal’s Georgekutty?

The Drishyam franchise is heading in two different directions with its third instalment.

While Mohanlal returns as Georgekutty in the Malayalam version, Ajay Devgn reprises his role as Vijay Salgaonkar in the Hindi film, Drishyam: The Conclusion. This time, however, the two films do not share the same storyline.

Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3 Has a New Story

The first two Hindi films were closely based on Jeethu Joseph’s Malayalam originals. Drishyam: The Conclusion breaks from that formula with a completely new screenplay.

Ajay Devgn has confirmed that the Hindi film is not a modified version of the Malayalam Drishyam 3. According to the actor, the makers have developed an entirely new script rather than altering the existing Malayalam story.

Devgn has also expressed his wish for Mohanlal to watch the Hindi film and share his reaction.

Director Abhishek Pathak has similarly said that the two versions follow different narratives. While the Hindi film has been positioned as a drama-thriller, the Malayalam instalment places more emphasis on the family side of Georgekutty’s story.

Mohanlal’s Georgekutty Faces a New Threat

In Jeethu Joseph’s Malayalam Drishyam 3, Georgekutty’s story continues after the events of Drishyam 2.

The new chapter introduces another threat for Georgekutty and his family. However, this time, he is faced with a different kind of uncertainty. He does not know whether someone is pursuing him, or even who could be behind the threat.

Vijay Salgaonkar Gets a Different Opponent

Ajay Devgn’s Vijay Salgaonkar enters the third film with the events of the first two Hindi instalments still hanging over him. But his journey does not mirror Georgekutty’s.

The film’s trailer introduces Jaideep Ahlawat as SP Crime Branch Rajveer Singh Tomar, who takes charge of the case and attempts to uncover the truth surrounding Vijay and his family.

Prakash Raj further raises the stakes, while Tabu, Shriya Saran and Rajat Kapoor return to the franchise.

With separate screenplays and different conflicts, the Hindi and Malayalam versions of Drishyam 3 are set to offer distinct continuations of two characters who began their journeys from the same basic premise.
