Dubai’s Etihad Rail Passenger Train Starts: Routes, Tickets and Fares Explained

Dubai has joined the UAE’s passenger rail network, with Etihad Rail launching its first passenger train service in the city on Wednesday, September 30.

The service connects Dubai with Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, expanding rail links between some of the country’s key urban and commercial centres.

The new train service is expected to make travel between the three emirates more convenient while supporting tourism, business and commercial activity. It is also part of the UAE’s wider effort to strengthen transport links and economic integration among the emirates.

The country’s first passenger rail service was launched on June 30 between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. The latest expansion brings Dubai into the passenger network less than five years after the UAE announced the passenger rail project under its Projects of the 50 initiative.

Etihad Rail says its passenger trains are equipped with a range of modern facilities designed to improve the travel experience. These include wireless internet, charging ports available at every seat and dedicated space for luggage.

The expansion of the passenger network marks another stage in the UAE’s development of a national railway system, offering travellers an alternative to road transport and improving connections between major destinations across the country.
