Petrol, Diesel & CNG Prices Today: Check City-Wise Fuel Rates for July 12

Petrol, diesel and CNG prices remained unchanged across the country on Sunday, July 12, 2026, with oil marketing companies (OMCs) and city gas distributors keeping retail fuel rates steady. Fuel prices are reviewed daily at 6 am, though revisions are made only when warranted by changes in global crude oil prices, exchange rates and government taxes.

Global crude oil prices continued to trade in a narrow range despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia. Concerns over potential disruptions to crude supplies through the Strait of Hormuz have kept markets on edge, although prices have remained well below the highs seen during the peak of the regional conflict.

Fuel Prices Across Major Cities

Among the major cities, Hyderabad continued to record the highest petrol price at Rs 115.69 per litre, while Thiruvananthapuram followed closely at Rs 115.49 per litre.

At the other end of the spectrum, Chandigarh offered the cheapest petrol at Rs 98.10 per litre, followed by Lucknow (Rs 102.05) and New Delhi (Rs 102.12).

For diesel, Thiruvananthapuram remained the costliest at Rs 104.40 per litre, with Hyderabad close behind at Rs 103.82 per litre. Chandigarh continued to have the lowest diesel price among the listed cities at Rs 86.09 per litre.

Why Fuel Prices Remain Elevated

Retail fuel prices continue to reflect the increase implemented earlier after international crude oil prices surged amid geopolitical tensions in West Asia. Oil marketing companies had raised petrol and diesel prices by around Rs 7.5 per litre, and rates have since remained unchanged.

The Centre also revised export duties in its latest fortnightly review. The export duty on diesel was increased to Rs 14 per litre from Rs 13.5, while the levy on aviation turbine fuel (ATF) was raised to Rs 12.5 per litre from Rs 9.5. The export duty on petrol remains unchanged at Rs 1.5 per litre.

LPG and CNG Prices

Domestic LPG prices also remain higher following the latest revision. The price of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi currently stands at Rs 942, after a Rs 29 increase implemented in June.

Commercial LPG users are also paying more, with the price of a 19-kg cylinder in Delhi fixed at Rs 3,113.50 following the previous hike.

CNG prices, meanwhile, continue to vary by city. In Mumbai, CNG is priced at Rs 86 per kg, while domestic PNG costs Rs 52 per standard cubic metre (SCM) after the most recent revision.
