US Homeland Security Condemns Beheading of Indian-Origin Man in Texas
The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has condemned the brutal beheading of Chandra Nagamalliah, an Indian-origin motel manager, in Dallas, Texas. DHS described the murder as a “gruesome, savage slaying” and criticized the release of the accused, Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, calling him a “criminal illegal alien” whose presence in the US could have been prevented.
The attack occurred on September 10 at the Downtown Suites motel, reportedly following a dispute over a washing machine. Surveillance footage showed Cobos-Martinez, 37, attacking Nagamalliah with a machete in front of his wife and 18-year-old son.
Cobos-Martinez, a co-worker with a criminal history including auto theft and assault, has been arrested and charged with capital murder. DHS emphasized that the incident could have been avoided if the accused had not been released by the previous administration.
Former US President Donald Trump also commented on the case, calling the act “terrible” and blaming the Biden administration for the accused being in the country. Chandra Nagamalliah, 50, originally from Karnataka, India, was a respected figure in Dallas. The incident has shocked the local community and prompted calls for justice.
