Jailer 2 Box Office Collection: Rajinikanth’s Film Creates History With ₹808 Crore Worldwide, Surpasses PK and Chhaava
Rajinikanth has added another remarkable achievement to his illustrious career. At 75, the superstar has delivered Tamil cinema’s first-ever ₹800-crore worldwide blockbuster, with his latest release, Jailer 2, crossing the milestone on Sunday. The film has not only created a new record for the Tamil film industry but has also overtaken the lifetime worldwide collections of Bollywood hits PK and Chhaava.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 has maintained an impressive theatrical run, supported by strong domestic collections and an encouraging response from international audiences. With the release of Ramayana approaching, the film may face increased competition, but its box office performance has already secured a place in Indian cinema history.
Jailer 2 Box Office Collection: ₹808 Crore Worldwide
Jailer 2 opened to an extraordinary response, collecting around ₹400 crore during its extended four-day opening weekend. The festive period, including Navratri and Dussehra, further helped the film maintain its momentum during the first week.
After a successful opening, the film continued to attract audiences in its second weekend. Although collections experienced a midweek slowdown in the third week, the movie managed to recover over the weekend.
On its 18th day, Sunday, the film earned approximately ₹11.50 crore net in the domestic market. Its third-weekend collection reached ₹26.40 crore, taking its total Indian earnings to ₹456 crore net and approximately ₹533 crore gross.
With this performance, Jailer 2 has become the first Tamil film to cross ₹450 crore in domestic net collections. It has also achieved the distinction of earning more than ₹60 crore in each of the four major southern markets: Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh-Telangana.
Strong Overseas Earnings Boost Worldwide Total
Rajinikanth’s popularity beyond India has played a major role in the film’s historic box office performance. The movie has performed particularly well in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and North America, collecting nearly $29 million from overseas markets.
Its international earnings have brought its worldwide gross to approximately ₹808 crore, making it the first Tamil film to enter the ₹800-crore club. The overseas performance has also placed Jailer 2 close to the international earnings reported for Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar.
Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 Overtakes PK and Chhaava
Another major achievement for Jailer 2 is its success in surpassing the worldwide lifetime collections of two popular Bollywood films.
The Rajinikanth-starrer has moved ahead of Aamir Khan’s PK, which earned approximately ₹769 crore worldwide, and Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, whose lifetime collection stood at around ₹807 crore.
With its current worldwide earnings of ₹808 crore, Jailer 2 has moved beyond both films and strengthened its position among India’s biggest box office successes.
Will Jailer 2 Reach the ₹850 Crore Mark?
The coming days will determine whether Jailer 2 can extend its record-breaking journey further. The film is expected to face weekday collection pressure, while the arrival of Ramayana later this week could intensify competition for screens and audience attention.
Nevertheless, its strong third-weekend performance has kept hopes alive of reaching the ₹850-crore worldwide mark. Achieving that target could also help the film move past the worldwide collections of Kantara Chapter One and Stree 2.
For Rajinikanth, the success of Jailer 2 represents another major box office milestone. At an age when many actors reduce their on-screen appearances, the superstar has delivered a historic commercial achievement, taking Tamil cinema into the ₹800-crore worldwide club for the first time.
