Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Slams US Over Venezuela Operation, Calls It ‘Rogue State Terrorism’
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday strongly condemned the US military operation in Venezuela, calling it an “act of terrorism” and accusing Washington of behaving like a “rogue state.” He warned that such “blatant imperialist aggression” threatens global peace and stability in Latin America.
Vijayan said the strikes on Caracas’ strategic centres reveal a “vicious operation” targeting the Global South and framed the US action as a modern continuation of colonial-style bullying. He urged international unity to defend the sovereignty of independent nations.
The statement follows Saturday’s operation in which US special forces captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, transferring them to the US to face federal narcoterrorism charges. Left leaders in India, including Vijayan, view the move as a resource-driven regime-change operation rather than an anti-crime measure.
The Kerala CM, echoing CPI(M) calls, demanded the immediate withdrawal of US troops and criticised the Union Government for its silence, stressing the need to defend nations’ sovereign rights against external aggression.
