‘My Son Didn’t Push Ketan’: Accused Chetan’s Father Rejects Murder Allegations

The father of Chetan Chowdhury, one of the accused in the alleged murder of Pune businessman Ketan Vishal Agrawal, has claimed that his son is innocent and is being falsely implicated in the case. Speaking after Chetan’s arrest, Babulal Chowdhury said his son had told him that he was nowhere near Agrawal when the businessman fell into a valley at Lohagad Fort on June 18.

“When I met him at the police station, he told me he didn’t push Ketan. He was standing far away,” Babulal said. According to him, Chetan claimed that Siya Goyal was standing closest to Agrawal at the time of the incident. However, Babulal said he could not say whether she had any role in the businessman’s death.

“I don’t know what happened there. Chetan only told me that he was standing far away,” he said. The accused’s father also maintained that the family had never met Siya before the case came to light and that he first saw her after the arrests.

Defending his son, Babulal described Chetan as a hardworking young man who regularly helped at the family shop and had no reason to be involved in such a crime. “He is being framed. My son cannot do this,” he said, while demanding that Chetan be acquitted.

Babulal further claimed that when police took his son into custody, the family was initially told it was related to a fraud case. According to him, they learned only later that investigators were treating the matter as a murder case.

Police Suspect Planned Killing

Investigators, however, have presented a very different version of events. According to police sources, Chetan Chowdhury and Siya Goyal allegedly conspired to kill Agrawal and carried out the plan at Lohagad Fort after weeks of preparation.

The probe suggests that the alleged conspiracy involved multiple attempts and careful planning before the June 18 incident. Investigators are examining several developments, including earlier visits to Lohagad Fort and a cancelled Bali trip, which they believe may be linked to the case.

Police allege that Agrawal was brought to the fort on June 18, where Chowdhury was already present. Investigators claim the accused pushed him into a valley, causing his death. While the accused’s family continues to deny the allegations, Pune Rural Police say the investigation is ongoing and that all aspects of the alleged conspiracy are being examined.
