Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said alleged narco-trafficking kingpin Navpreet Singh has been deported from Turkiye and brought back to India.
In a post on X, Shah alleged that Singh had secured Turkish citizenship using the fake identity of Navab Virk and continued to smuggle heroin and methamphetamine into India from Afghanistan. Shah described Singh’s deportation as a “historic milestone” for the government’s efforts against international drug-trafficking networks.
“Modi govt has achieved a historic milestone by securing the deportation of hardened narco-trafficking kingpin Navpreet Singh from Türkiye,” Shah said. According to the Home Minister, Indian agencies tracked Singh in Turkiye and uncovered his alleged identity fraud before securing his deportation to India.
Shah said Singh has now been brought back to the country and lodged in jail in connection with cases related to alleged drug trafficking and other crimes. “Our agencies tracked him down, ripping apart veil after veil to unmask his true identity, and secured his deportation,” Shah wrote.
The Home Minister also congratulated the agencies involved in tracking Singh and facilitating his return to India.
