Rohit Pawar, nephew of the late Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, has filed a zero FIR in Bengaluru over the January 28 plane crash near Baramati that killed his uncle and four others. He alleged a “larger criminal conspiracy” behind the incident.

A zero FIR can be registered at any police station, regardless of where the incident occurred, and is later transferred to the proper jurisdiction. Pawar lodged the complaint at High Grounds Police Station after attempts to register the FIR in Maharashtra reportedly failed.

The FIR cites multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and endangering life. It claims the aircraft, operated by VSR Ventures Pvt Ltd, was unfit to fly, with alleged falsification of maintenance records, regulatory violations, and questionable decisions by the crew under poor visibility.

Pawar alleged “systematic violations” of aviation safety norms, possible pilot incapacitation, and irregular crew changes, suggesting negligence and deliberate lapses. He also cited a DGCA audit stating the Bombardier Learjet 45 was not airworthy and had been grounded previously.

The complaint seeks a full criminal investigation beyond the ongoing technical probe and has been transferred to Pune police for further investigation.

Ajit Pawar and four others died when the Learjet 45 crashed near Baramati airport while en route from Mumbai on January 28.
